ALLY MCBEAL: THE INMATES {CROSSOVER EPISODE WITH "THE PRACTICE"} (TV)
Summary
One in this whimsical comedy/drama series about the personal and professional misadventures of Ally McBeal, a neurotic young lawyer living in Boston. Part one of a two-part crossover story between "Ally McBeal" and "The Practice," two legal drama series created by David E. Kelley. In this episode, Ally's firm handles their first criminal case, involving Maria Hanson, a woman accused of murdering her husband with an axe. Because the lawyers at Fish and Cage have mixed feelings about accepting a criminal case of this nature, they approach Bobby Donnell, whose practice has a strong reputation in criminal law. But when the two firms begin their collaboration, they clash on every level. To make matters worse, Richard Fish almost ruins his firm's credibility when he takes an outspoken stand in a controversial discrimination case. Billy is the only lawyer who appears to be truly committed to Mrs. Hanson's defense, although the case takes a bizarre turn when Hanson's psychiatrist reveals questionable information about her past. Meanwhile, Renee unexpectedly finds herself in trouble with the law when she pursues a romance with a fellow lawyer. Commercials deleted.
(Part two of this story, entitled "Axe Murderer," was telecast on the ABC series, "The Practice." See T:53177.)
