TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL: SINS OF THE FATHER (TV)
Summary
One in this series about two angels, Monica and Tess, who help mortals who have lost their direction in life and their faith in God. In this episode, the angels try to change the fate of a family during a visit to death row. Monica poses as a journalist interviewing the youngest man on death row -- a sixteen-year-old named Luther who is convicted of killing a policeman. Although he is a bitter young man with a tough facade, Luther openly discusses his crime, his gang, and his family, particularly his younger brother, Samuel. Luther explains that his own father, also a hardened gangster, deserted the family years ago; as a result, Luther helped raise Samuel by introducing him to gang life. Monica also takes interest in another inmate, Willis, who is scheduled to be killed in four days, realizing that he has an important mission to carry out before he dies. Meanwhile, the other two angels, Andrew and Tess, try to address the needs of Samuel and his mother, Valerie. As Andrew learns of Samuel's interest in car mechanics, he tries to lure the boy away from the street and direct him toward a job. But Luther's ex-partner in crime, Dre, challenges Samuel to be as tough as his older brother, and soon uses the boy's mechanical skills for stealing cars and selling the parts. Valerie tries to keep Samuel safe, but with her husband gone and her son in prison, her spirit is broken. She attends a church concerned with rejuvenating the neighborhood, and tells Tess that she feels helpless and hopeless in her troubled community. The three angels manage to revive the spirits of Willis, Valerie, and Luther so they can cooperate in saving Samuel from a path of self-destruction. Commercials deleted.
