HAPPY DAYS: GUESS WHO'S COMING TO CHRISTMAS? (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedies about life in the 1950s. In this episode, Fonzie tries to get Al to attend the Cunninghams' Christmas dinner, but Al is unsure, thinking he was just invited out of pity. Thus, Fonzie regales him with a story about the time he went to the Cunningham house for a yuletide meal. The episode flashes back as Howard prepares for the big holiday, one that he intends to have "just for family." After some mistletoe shenanigans, Richie, Ralph, and Potsie run into Fonzie, who shows his Christmas spirit with gifts. Potsie tries to invite him to his family's feast, but Fonzie lies and says he already has plans with some relatives. Later, the water hose on Howard's car springs a leak and he has to visit Fonzie's garage to get the car repaired. There, Richie discovers Fonzie's lie -- he's celebrating Christmas all alone. However, he keeps that information to himself and instead returns home with his father to celebrate the holiday. As Marion, Joanie, Chuck, and Howard trim the tree, Richie remains glum. Eventually, Richie reveals the truth to his parents, who decide that they should track Fonzie down and invite him over. After some cajoling, Howard and Richie ultimately get Fonzie to come to the house to celebrate Christmas. Commercials deleted.
