HAWAII FIVE-O: COCOON {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas that follow rogue Detective Steve McGarrett as he uncovers evil in paradise as a member of a special branch of the Hawaiian State Police. This episode is a cut version of the pilot movie, in which Steve McGarrett investigates the murder of his friend Hennessy, a United States intelligence agent. The program begins as Wo Fat tortures Hennessy, and a man smoking a pipe lurks in the shadows. The next morning, McGarrett is called to the beach on which Hennessy's body has been found. McGarrett begins the investigation at Hennessy's house, where someone has already rifled through the agent's notebook and burned some of its contents. Small unburned bits of paper reveal the word "cocoon," however, giving McGarrett his first clue. Back at the office, McGarrett asks Kono to check out Rosemary Quong, a woman seen at Hennessy's apartment the night before. McGarrett then pays a visit to intelligence, where agents Miller and Brent inform him that Hennessy's funeral will be rushed. McGarrett begins to suspect foul play within the intelligence community. After cracking some clues, McGarrett learns that the ship the S.S. Acturas is the center of activity on the part of a Chinese agent. With the help of the Governor, McGarrett teams up with a counterintelligence bigwig to help solve the mystery of the "cocoon." Commercials deleted.
