MUSEUM OF TELEVISION & RADIO SCREENING SERIES, THE:
DIRECTED BY JOHN FRANKENHEIMER: THE TELEVISION
WORK, PACKAGE 1: AGAINST THE WALL

Summary

"Against the Wall" With Kyle MacLachlan, Samuel L. Jackson, Clarence Williams III, and Harry Dean Stanton (1994; 115 min.) After directing feature films for three decades, FrankenheimerÕs triumphant return to television opened up a new form for him to explore: the docu-drama. Based on true events, FrankenheimerÕs Emmy Award-winning work for HBO "Against the Wall" tells the story of a rookie corrections officer caught in the fight between uncaring penal coworkers and inmates demanding better living conditions during the 1971 Attica prison revolt. Frankenheimer wanted to bring a documentary realism to his historical re-creation and shot most of the film in natural light.
