HALLMARK HALL OF FAME: ROSE HILL (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramatic specials presented by Hallmark. In this production, four orphans dedicate their lives to raising an abandoned baby girl in the wild west. As boys, the orphans earn a living in New York as pickpockets. In an attempt to evade the police one day, they jump into a wagon in which they find a baby girl. Believing the infant to be abandoned, the boys decide to take responsibility for the girl, who they name Mary Rose after two of their deceased mothers. The boys' leader decides to take his friends west where they plan to become cowboys. At first they work as ranch hands. Eventually, however, they realize it is time to settle down with Mary Rose. On the way west they meet a woman named Mrs. Nelson, who lost her entire family during the war, and invite her to come with them to Montana where there is free range. Mrs. Nelson is happy to have found a new family and glad to help in raising Mary Rose. The young family moves to an area which they call Rose Hill. Eventually, when Mary Rose grows up, she has many suitors. Her "brothers," however, are overprotective and scare all the men away. One day, Mary falls for a man who later kills one of her brothers. The man, however, gets his just reward. Overcome with grief, Mary asks her oldest brother to tell her the truth about her past. She later returns to New York to find her real family, but soon learns that her real family is the people who have always been by her side. Includes commercials and promos.
