HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET: DECEPTION (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic police series about a department of reflective homicide detectives in Baltimore, Maryland. In this episode, a drug smuggler is found dead of an apparent overdose and the autopsy reveals seventy-seven packages of pure heroin in his stomach. The heroin shipment was meant for Luther Mahoney, and Detectives Kellerman and Lewis orchestrate a sting operation, with help from Detective Terri Stivers of the narcotics unit, to finally nail Mahoney. Meanwhile, Detective Munch receives a call regarding a case that his former partner worked on but never closed and learns where he can find a buried body from Lazlo "Punchy" DeLeon, who is finishing a ten-year prison sentence. Kellerman and Lewis decide to send a fake package to Mahoney's operation in an attempt to get him to crack and talk about his business on the phone. Meanwhile, Detectives Pembleton and Bayliss discuss the notion of becoming partners again. Munch follows up on Punchy's information and is excited about being handed the answers to the case. However, the information turns out to be false and Munch feels he's being used as a pawn by Punchy. When the fake drugs hit the streets, Mahoney finally cracks, giving the detectives a golden opportunity to get at him. Mahoney sets up a meeting with his people, but the detectives have to stay far away in order to remain hidden. Shooting breaks out at the meeting and Mahoney flees the scene with Lewis in pursuit. Munch does some checking into Punchy's information about the individual who was supposed to be dead and finds the suspect alive and well. Lewis takes down Mahoney and proceeds to take his anger out on him. During the scuffle, Mahoney grabs Lewis's gun and aims it at the detective. Kellerman and Stivers arrive, and a brief stand-off begins between the detectives and Mahoney. Commercials deleted.
