FASHION: MODELS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS {ANDY WARHOL'S
TV} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of talk/interview programs, loosely
adapted from Andy Warhol's Interview magazine. This
edition features interviews with fashion models Phoebe
Cates, Lena Kansbod, and Amina Warsuma and with
photographers Arthur Elgort and Scott Heiser. First,
the models and photographers recall their previous lines
of work and describe their entries into their present
careers. Next, they discuss the pros and cons of their
jobs. Included are comments on the following: the
day-to-day work of a model; the potential of modeling to
serve as a stepping stone to other jobs and lifestyles;
the commercial pressures on fashion photographers; the
evolution of fashion magazines to appeal to a wider
audience; and the interactions between models. The
models then discuss their social lives and professional
interests, and they reflect on their changing
relationships with friends in the light of their
successful careers. The photographers conclude with
thoughts about the future of the magazine industry and
speculate about alternative career paths they might have
pursued.
Cataloging of this program was made possible by the
Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, 1999.
