ABC AFTERSCHOOL SPECIAL: TOO SOON FOR JEFF {TWENTY-FIFTH SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of dramas intended for young audiences. This drama concerns the decisions that high school senior Jeff and his girlfriend Christy have to make when she becomes pregnant with his child. Jeff is a normal student who divides his time between his school work, his afterschool job, and hanging out with his best friends Benny and Jeremy, and his girlfriend Christy. Recently he has also been consumed with dreams of winning a debate scholarship to a big university in Texas. Unfortunately, Jeff has also begun to feel smothered by ChristyÕs possessive affections and hopes they can end their relationship amicably. However, just as Jeff gets ready to break things off with Christy, she admits to him that she is several weeks pregnant with their child. JeffÕs immediate reaction is one of denial. He does not want the child and he is determined to go to college. Christy, on the other hand, has strong beliefs that prevent her from terminating the pregnancy or giving it up for adoption. As Jeff searches his soul to make the right choices for everyone involved, he thinks of his relationship with his own neglectful father, and with his very caring uncle. Comparing his relationships with these two male role models, Jeff wonders what kind of father he will be. After the baby is born, the reality of it sets in on both Jeff and Christy, and they make the compromises necessary to support their child.
