ER {E.R.}: WELCOME BACK CARTER! {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

The second season premiere in this series of dramas about the emergency room team of an inner-city Chicago hospital. In this episode, a number of shooting victims are brought to the hospital after a gang shooting on a crowded street. A pregnant woman is shot in the abdomen, and the doctors desperately try to save the woman and her child. Dr. Benton notices that Carter is two hours late for the first day of his surgical internship, and Dr. Greene tries to cope with the responsibilities associated with his new E.R. attending physician position. Carter finally arrives while Benton is in surgery with the pregnant woman, and Benton is obviously not happy with his student. Matters only get worse for Carter since he is grossly unprepared for his surgical internship. After Carter feels the wrath of Benton, he meets third-year medical student Harper Tracey, and he is impressed by her looks and the way that she interacts with patients. Dr. Greene then experiences his first staff meeting, during which the issue of a new E.R. chief arises, and some disparaging remarks are made about Ross. Meanwhile, Nurse Hathaway tries to convince an alcoholic father to clean himself up for his son's benefit. Greene then meets Kerry Weaver, who may be in the running for the E.R. chief position. Also, the gang shooter enters the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, and Carter further infuriates Benton when he faints while helping out in the E.R. Commercials deleted.
