ER {E.R.}: DAYS LIKE THIS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas about the emergency room team of an inner-city Chicago hospital. In this episode, the emergency room is swamped with patients after a night of gang banging in the streets. Hathaway is in the stressful process of signing the ownership papers on her new house, but her mobile notary becomes a patient. And Greene and Ross clash yet again on an ethical issue after Greene witnesses activity outside of the hospital which is against the rules. Additionally, Benton is disturbed when Jeanie Boulet begins working as a physician's assistant in the E.R.; Ross argues with pediatric chief Dr. Bernstein about admitting a patient; and Carter learns hurtful information from Harper and tries to cope with the news. Also, Randi helps keep the peace in the busy hospital, leading the nursing staff to place wagers on the sort of criminal background she has. Benton and Lewis diagnose a patient with a heart problem who may require risky surgery, and a specialist agrees that surgery is the only option. Meanwhile, Weaver works on a young girl who has suffered a seizure at the mall and cannot speak; and, Greene learns that Ross's recent behavior has led Bernstein to dismiss any chances Ross had for renewal at the hospital. Also, Hathaway's notary suffers a massive heart attack before all the papers are signed -- and she is stunned at her actions after the attack. As the program concludes, Carter an Ross discuss their feelings on the basketball court in a physical game of one-on-one, and Weaver realizes that her patient is deaf. Commercials deleted.
