Roth, professor of philosophy at Claremont McKenna College; Richard Rubenstein, professor of religion at Florida State University; Moshe David Herr, professor of Jewish history at Hebrew University; John G. Gager, professor of religion at Princeton University; Abbe Laguerie, a conservative Catholic; Dr. Margaret Brearkey from the Center for Jewish-Christian Relations; William Jordan, professor of history at Princeton University; Bernard Lewis, a professor at Princeton University; Heiko A. Oberman, professor of Reformation History at the University of Arizona; Rabbi Arthur Hertzberg, professor of history at Columbia University; Robert Wistrich, professor of history at Hebrew University; John S. Conway, professor of history at the University of British Columbia; and Dr. John Habgood, the Archbishop of York. These experts discuss the following topics, among others: the negative image of the Jews -- representing everything that one would not want to be; Christianity's responsibility for anti-Judaism and later anti-Semitism; the start of Christianity; the origins of Nazism; the uniqueness of the one God of the Jews; the early followers of Jesus; the conflicts between the Jewish sects of the first century; why the Gospels are anti-Jewish; the real reasons Jesus was put to death and why the Jews are blamed; the conservative Catholic view of the Jews as reflected in the words of St. Paul; why the Jews became a people without a country; the Christian Crusades; the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem; the legend of ritual killings and the drinking of Christian blood by the Jews; the separation of Jesus from Judaism; the use of Jews as money lenders; the Spanish Inquisition; the depiction of Jews in art, which associated Jews with the devil; Martin Luther's denouncement of the Jews; why Luther wanted to keep the Jews within his territory; why Jews became an irritant to the people of Europe; the prominent Jews of Europe; the origins of Nazism; the scientific justification for hostility against Jews; Richard Wagner's fierce anti-Semitism; Adolf Hitler's desire for purification; the beliefs of Hitler's Enlightenment and Propaganda Minister, Paul Josef Goebbels; the church's role in World War II; the Pope's lack of condemnation of the acts of Hitler and the Nazis; the Church's decision to absolve Jews for the death of Christ. Also included is footage of the following: Nazi parades and rallies; Christian and Orthodox Jewish services; Easter traditions in Jerusalem; art that depicts the medieval concept of the Jew; Hitler; Goebbels; book burnings; concentration camps; and the inter-faith service commemorating the massacre of the Jews of York in 1190.
