Summary

Mellencamp -- dressed in his signature getup of white T-shirt, dungaree jacket, jeans, white socks, and black penny loafers -- serves as a de facto narrator while singing of lost dreams and hope for the future. In "The Authority Song," Mellencamp is featured as a rebellious prize-fighter -- again attired in T-shirt, jeans, white socks, and black Weejuns -- who defies the odds and becomes the inspiration for a young boy that emulates him in action and attire.
