NO ONE WOULD TELL (TV)

Summary

This made-for-television movie, inspired by actual events, concerns an abusive relationship between two high school sweethearts. The movie begins as Bobby Tennison takes his ex-girlfriend, Stacy Collins, out to a quiet, wooded spot by the lake in an effort to rekindle their relationship. When Stacy explains that they can only be friends, Bobby loses his temper and becomes violent, and then returns alone to the truck where his friend Vince is waiting for the couple. A flashback follows, covering the five previous months: for a long time, Stacy has had a crush on the school wresting champion, Bobby, and she is thrilled when he shows interest in her.

On their first date, they form an immediate bond, confessing they feel alone and misunderstood by their families. As the months pass, they grow close and turn to each other for emotional support, spending time with friends as well. At home, Stacy sees her mother caught in a series of unfulfilling relationships and vows not to fall into the same trap. But soon her relationship with Bobby sours as she finds that he has a jealous side and a quick temper. He becomes possessive and monopolizes her time, causing her to become isolated from her friends. Stacy shrugs off his behavior because she is moved by his protectiveness and his declarations of love. She defends Bobby when he humiliates her and physically abuses her, both in public and in private, and grows increasingly distant from her mother and friends when they express concern about her unhealthy relationship.

Encouraged by her mother and her friend Nikki, Stacy finally gathers the strength to break up with Bobby. But she is sympathetic with him, knowing the abuse he endured in his own family, so she goes to his house one night as a friendly gesture. On that night, with two friends as witnesses, the two ex-lovers fight and Vince drives the couple out to the woods to talk. Once Stacy disappears, she is missing for several days before the witnesses, Vince and Carla, speak with the police. Eventually, Bobby confesses his actions on that night, which will leave their mark on him for the rest of his life. Commercials deleted.
