Summary
Continued from T:41533. The second of two programs on this asset. A segment of one in this series of news magazine programs. This segment features the conclusion of the interview with Diana, Princess of Wales whichaired on "Turning Point" earlier in the evening. At the start of this segment, anchors Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs comment on the British public's support of Princess Diana, the royal family's response to the interview, critical comments about Princess Diana's statements, and the issue of whether Prince Charles should step aside and allow his son to take the throne. The final portion of the interview with BBC correspondent Martin Bashir then follows. During this clip, Diana, Princess of Wales, expresses her desire to become an ambassador to England. She comments on the following topics, among others: whether or not she is to blame for the questionable survival of the monarchy; the changes she feels need to occur within the structure of the monarchy; whether or not she believes she will ever be queen; whether Charles, Prince of Wales, would be able to adapt to being king; and her hopes for the future of her son, Prince William. At the end of the segment, Barbara Walters summarizes what she feels the princess was conveying during her interview with Bashir. Includes commercials and promos. This segment is closed-captioned.
