COMEDY STORE'S 11TH ANNIVERSARY, THE (TV)

Summary

This comedy special looks at some of the stand-up comedians who have graced the stage of the Comedy Store over the past eleven years. Comedians featured are Sandra Bernhard, Mike Binder, Jim Carrey, Father Guido Sarducci (Don Novello), Richard Pryor, Paul Rodriguez, Tim Thomerson, Jimmy Walker, Lotus Weinstock, and Robin Williams. Highlights include: Father Guido Sarducci gives a guided tour of the famous comedy club; Paul Rodriguez talks about Mexicans and their driving habits; Jimmy Walker comments on the progress women are making in society, especially towards sex; Walker pokes fun at women who tell their friends everything about a boyfriend, even though they say they'd never do that, and jokes about the many metholds of birth control available. Next, Sandra Bernhard talks about aerobics classes, plays with the crowd, and makes comments to a man in the front row; she then jokes about men's obsessions with certain parts of a women's body. Labeling himself "the singing comic impressionist," Jim Carrey does impressions of famous personalities including Jack Nicholson, Bruce Dern, Clint Eastwood, Charles Bronson, Michael Landon, James Dean, the cast from "My Three Sons," Henry Fonda, and Katharine Hepburn. Other highlights include the following: Mike Binder gives his impression of a day at Disneyland and guesses how people came up with ideas for the rides; Lotus Weinstock talks about how women behave when a baby is present, and jokes about masturbation; Weinstock invites Tim Thomerson on stage and he performs his trademark "Stagecoach" routine; Richard Pryor discusses the feeling of being sober on stage, going to a therapist, his hospital stay a few years ago, visiting Africa, preachers on television, and getting older; Robin Williams talks about people of different ethnic backgrounds imitating those of other backgrounds, his wife having a baby, mood changes in pregnant women, and ordering food at a Japanese restaurant.
