MARTIN: WORKIN' DAY AND NIGHT (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Martin Payne, a sexist, wise-cracking radio talk-show host for WZUP in Detroit, Michigan, which is based on a character Martin Lawrence created in his stand-up comedy routine. In this episode, Gina and Martin have a conflict of interest when Martin accepts the midnight "quiet storm" radio shift, in addition to his regular morning show. Stan has convinced Martin to add the midnight shift to his schedule, despite the lack of extra pay, but Gina protests that Stan is exploiting Martin and that the extra time will cut into their romantic relationship. In addition, Gina needs Martin to leave an evening free to join her for an important client dinner because the clients are fans of Martin's radio show. When Martin tells his boss he cannot work the extra shift, Stan accuses him of letting Gina run his life, and his friends Carl and Tommy concur. Martin becomes determined to reclaim his manhood and returns home to Gina with a new macho attitude. After several exhausting morning and night shifts, Martin's attitude has grown so brash that he sparks a full-fledged battle of the sexes at Gina's client dinner. Ultimately, Martin belatedly realizes that it is wiser to make love, not war. Commercials deleted.
