GUIDING LIGHT {BRIDGET'S PARTY; WAREHOUSE EXPLOSION} (TV)

Summary

One in this long-running daytime serial about the residents of the midwestern town of Springfield. In this episode, it's New Year's Eve and Bridget is throwing a party, but she is not joining in the festivities because she is upset about Dylan leaving Springfield. Vanessa is going to meet Matt at a warehouse in town and is surprised when Ross walks by. Vanessa makes an excuse to Ross about why she is there and pretends to walk away from the warehouse. Upon returning, Vanessa is knocked down by an explosion that destroys the warehouse. Ross comes rushing back to usher Vanessa away from the blaze, but she insists on going in because Matt is inside. Elsewhere, Tangie and Alan-Michael come home together to have their own celebration of the new year, but Alan-Michael has to go out for a short time and Alan Spaulding shows up at Tangie's door. Tangie refuses to listen to Alan's confessions and leaves her own house. Josh skips the party at the country club and comes to the diner to talk with Buzz. He is contemplating leaving Springfield and starting a new life where nobody knows who he is. Buzz tells Josh of his experiences trying the same thing and Josh listens intently. Tangie comes back home to find Alan still there and he proceeds to tell her of his time in prison and how much he thought about her in order to keep going. Without realizing that Alan-Michael is standing in the doorway, Alan continues to confess everything to Tangie. Josh has made up his mind and bids Buzz a fond farewell and walks out the door. Back at Bridget's party, Bridget stops the celebration to tell everyone of the situation with Dylan. When people try to console her, Bridget acts as if nothing is wrong. As the party starts back up, Vanessa comes rushing in, charred from the explosion, to find Bridget. She tells her of the explosion and the partygoers rush out to the scene. Just as the firefighters are clearing the area, out of the crowd a voice yells to Vanessa. She turns to see that Matt is still alive and the two embrace and kiss. Bridget and Ross can't believe what they are seeing and now realize why Vanessa was at the warehouse in the first place. Commercials deleted. (This program is closed-captioned.)
