PICKET FENCES: CLOSE ENCOUNTERS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of off-beat dramas that often focuses on social issues as it chronicles the lives of Rome, Wisconsin, residents, including town sheriff Jimmy Brock; his wife Dr. Jill Brock; their three children, Kimberly, Matthew, and Zachary; and his two deputies, Kenny Lacos and Maxine Stewart. In this episode, singer Marla Melrose dies while rehearsing for an upcoming Valentine's day charity party -- only to come back to life in the morgue while coroner Carter Pike is zipping her up in a body bag. Brought together by these unusual circumstances, the two begin a romance, and Marla convinces Carter to sing a duet with her at the Valentine's party. Carter, however, is ambivalent about his feelings for her. Meanwhile, D.A. Jonathan Littleton's eighteen-year-old assistant confronts him with her belief that he is attracted to her. Also, Max suggests to Kenny that they sleep together to release the sexual tension between them -- no strings attached. However, Max is furious when Kenny is indifferent toward her at work the next morning. Later, Max confesses a long-held secret to Kenny. Commercials deleted.
