POSITIVELY TRUE ADVENTURES OF THE ALLEGED TEXAS CHEERLEADER-MURDERING MOM, THE (TV)
Summary
This satirical docudrama opens with the taping of a television interview with Wanda Holloway in which she gives her version of the events leading up to her arrest and trial: the ambitious Texas mother was accused of solicitation of murder for attempting to hire a hitman to eliminate Amber Heath, her daughter's rival for the cheerleading team, and Amber's mother, Verna. Told in flashback, the black comedy begins when Wanda's daughter, Shanna, is disqualified from competing for a spot on her junior high school's cheerleading squad after she attempts to promote herself in violation of the rules. Knowing that Verna Heath has connections in the school system, Wanda immediately blames the Heaths for her daughter's harsh punishment. Wanda decides that if she can get rid of Verna Heath and her acrobatic daughter, Amber, Shanna will still have a chance of making the cheerleading team. In need of help, Wanda turns to her ex-husband's brother, Terry, who is known for his shady past. Terry, however, is trying to go straight and decides to tell the police of Wanda's plans to murder her neighbors. He agrees to wear a wire to assist the members of the organized crime squad in gathering evidence to bring Wanda to trial. When the case becomes public knowledge, Wanda, her family, and the Heaths find themselves instant media celebrities and are bombarded by requests from reporters, producers, and network executives to turn their stories into a movie.
