ALL MY CHILDREN {NINA AND CLIFF'S FIRST WEDDING} (TV)
Summary
One in this daytime serial about the lives and loves of the residents of Pine Valley, Pennsylvania. In this episode, Cliff Warner and Nina Cortlandt wed at the Cortlandt estate. The following plot developments occur: eager to become the new Sensuelle Woman model, Erica Kane Cudahy meets with Brandon Kingsley, the head of Sensuelle Cosmetics, at his New York City office; Kingsley says he wants to set up a video test for her and that he has arranged for her to meet with an important executive for dinner; Erica tells Kingsley she is in a bind because today is her wedding anniversary and husband Tom has planned a dinner party at The Chateau; Kingsley responds by offering to have her flown back to Pine Valley on his private jet after their dinner so she may attend the party; Sybil Thorne tells Betsy Kennicott she doesn't understand how Cliff could go through with his marriage to Nina knowing that Sybil is carrying his child; Nina and her bridesmaids are brought to the Cortlandt terrace by horse and carriage as Frank Grant tells an uneasy Cliff to stop worrying and enjoy his wedding day; Erica -- who has told Tom she is in New York on a buying trip with her decorator -- calls him and tries to get him to postpone their party until the next day, but he gets angry and refuses; Betsy tries to convince Sybil to move out of Pine Valley for her own good; the wedding ceremony begins and an unhappy Palmer can barely get the words out of his mouth when the time comes to give his daughter Nina away; Mark Dalton asks Ellen Shepherd to the Cudahy's anniversary party and expresses concern that trouble might be brewing in Tom and Erica's marriage, suggesting his sister Erica may not have changed as much as people think; Erica charms Tom into a compromise -- he agrees to postpone the party two hours that evening; Sloane Sutton angrily confronts Brandon as to why her contract as the current Sensuelle Woman has not been renewed and he unceremoniously says she's out; the wedding goes smoothly, though Cliff is preoccupied with thoughts of Sybil's pregnancy during the nuptials; Chuck Tyler and Tara Martin talk at the reception and he tells her his estranged wife Donna refuses to reconcile unless he agrees to adopt a black market baby; Palmer tells Daisy Cortlandt -- who, after being banished years ago by Palmer for having an extramarital affair has secretly come back to Pine Valley under the identity of "Monique Jonvil" -- that their daughter has married beneath her, but Daisy suggests she and Palmer call a truce for the day and rejoice with Nina; Brandon tells Erica he can almost guarantee she will be the new Sensuelle Woman; Betsy does her best to suggest Sybil go home to her family or to a home for pregnant young women, but it is clear that Sybil has plans for Cliff; and as Nina and Cliff leave for their Martha's Vineyard honeymoon, Palmer looks deeply distressed.
