GRACE UNDER FIRE: THE HOLIDAYS (TV)
Summary
One in this comedy series about Grace Kelly, a Southern woman in her thirties struggling to support her three children by herself after her divorce from an alcoholic, abusive husband. In this episode, Grace's former mother-in-law, Jean, drops by to see her grandchildren and give them Christmas presents. Jean's husband, Emmet, says that she has been feeling bad lately. The truth of his remark is clear when she vows never to come back to Grace's house again. Meanwhile, Dougie is looking forward to a dance at the Elk Lodge, but he has no date this year. He asks Grace to go with him and she proudly accepts. Although Vic reminds Grace that Dougie was head over heels for her at one time, she feels nothing will happen and still accepts Dougie's offer. Meanwhile, Emmet returns without Jean to distribute presents, and remarks on her moodiness. At the dance, Dougie explains that he wants only a friendship with Grace, relieving her immensely. A couple of days after Christmas, Emmet brings Jean over to Grace's house, the children give her gifts, and Jean explains why she has been so down about the holidays. Includes commercials and promos.
