HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET: BOP GUN (TV)
Summary
One in this series of police dramas about a department of reflective homicide detectives in Baltimore, Maryland. In this episode, all of the detectives' efforts are concentrated on one case when a tourist is murdered in front of her family while resisting muggers. With media attention focused on the case because the victim was a white tourist and the assailants are black youths, the case's primary detective, Felton, leads his harried colleagues as they round up two suspects quickly. When the two young men implicate a third suspect named Vaughn Perkins during interrogation, the case is solved with surprising ease. Perkins admits he is the killer, writes a letter of apology to the victim's bereaved husband -- played by comedian Robin Williams -- and asks to be sentenced to life without parole. Howard, however, distrusts the youth's inordinately cooperative manner, and pays him a visit in prison to uncover the truth.
