ORSON AND OLIVIA: THE 37TH DUKE OF SUTHERLAND (TV)
Summary
One in this series of animated children's programs from France and Italy about the adventures of Orson and Olivia, two 19th-century London street urchins who survive by their wits and live with their dog Falstaff at Rat's Castle. In this episode, a duchess mistakes Orson for her long-lost son. While Orson, Olivia and their friends are out watching wealthy people ride in carriages through the park, the Duchess of Sutherland loses her parasol to a gust of wind. When Orson rescues it for her, something about the waif reminds the noblewoman of her long-lost son. Later, when he drops his trousers in an act of rebellion toward a crowd of rich children, she recognizes the beauty mark on his backside and concludes that he must be her offspring. The duchess has Orson kidnapped by one of her servants, so that he may give up his current lifestyle, live with her, and someday become the 37th Duke of Sutherland. Her husband has his doubts about the boy's maternity, but does not have the heart to tell the duchess the truth. Meanwhile, Olivia and Falstaff attempt to find their missing friend.
