MIAMI VICE: PRODIGAL SON {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of police dramas concerning Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, undercover detectives for the Miami vice squad. In this special two-hour episode, Crockett and Tubbs head to New York where they pose as drug dealers in an effort to bust two Colombian brothers responsible for the murders of federal drug agents. In the process, they run up against an uncooperative local police force, a local connection who claims he's retired from "pharmaceutical retail," and romantic interests who aren't being completely truthful. Tubbs's old flame Valerie is reluctant to reveal the details of her own undercover assignment, while Crockett has the misfortune of falling for the enigmatic Margaret, just one of many players in a sprawling tale of power and corruption. When Crockett and Tubbs set up a final confrontation with the Colombians, Valerie alone provides the necessary back-up. This episode features the song "You Belong to the City," written especially for the show by ex-Eagle Glenn Frey. Commercials deleted.
