POLICE SQUAD!: RING OF FEAR {A DANGEROUS ASSIGNMENT}
Summary
One of six episodes in this satirical comedy series about an elite branch of a city police force, the Police Squad. In this episode, a boxer who had refused to throw a fight dies mysteriously, so Drebin is sent undercover to catch a corrupt manager named Martin. Taking over the management of boxer Buddy Briggs, Drebin arranges for his client to fight the reigning champion and convinces him to fight for real. When Martin kidnaps Buddy's wife and tries to force the boxer to take a dive, Drebin comes to Mary's rescue. Packed with sight gags and non sequiturs, this episode features a scene in which a make-up artist gives a boxer a fat lip between rounds, while his opponent's coach sprays off the competition with a garden hose. Commercials deleted.
