MYSTERY!: INSPECTOR MORSE, SERIES 5: MASONIC MYSTERIES {PART 2 OF 2} (TV)

Summary

Continued from T:30094. One in this mystery anthology series. Host Diana Rigg introduces this program centered around the life of an ale-drinking British police investigator named Morse, who finds that his love of music often leads him to a murder investigation. In part two of this two-part episode, Lewis informs Morse that McNutt's body was found in his bathroom. He also tells Morse about the incriminating evidence found in his personnel files. According to police records, McNutt allowed Morse to avoid punishment after committing a violent act against a woman. Conveniently, McNutt's death makes it impossible for Morse to prove his innocence in the alleged crime. Lewis suddenly realizes that Morse's file must have been tampered with by a hacker, who could have faked his own death as well. Once again, Morse suspects that he is up against the great con man Hugo De Vries. Thinking that Marion could be in danger, Morse and Lewis attempt to locate her. When they learn that she did not go to work and that funds at her place of employment are missing, the pair realize that Marion may have been De Vries's accomplice all along. Morse and Lewis manage to locate De Vries, and Morse begins to talk with the con man alone. De Vries pulls out a gun and points it at Morse's head. He seems intent on killing the investigator but instead he commits a surprising act of twisted genius.
