MASTERPIECE THEATRE: JEEVES & WOOSTER {SERIES 1, EPISODE 2} (TV)
Summary
Continued from T:29996. One in this ongoing series of dramas presented under the umbrella of "Masterpiece Theatre," hosted by Alistair Cooke. Part two of this five-part comedy series adapted from stories by P.G. Wodehouse. These farces, set in 1920s England, concern the relationship between a hopeless young twit named Wooster and his helpful elder valet Jeeves. Part two begins as the outlandishly garbed Wooster plays a disastrous round of golf with his equally pea-brained rival Barmy Fotheringay Phipps at the annual Drones Club golf tournament. The witless wag's frivolous girlfriend Bobbie Wickham encourages Wooster to play a practical joke on his foe following the defeat, which produces calamitous results. While fellow dunderhead "Tuppy" Glossop romances opera singer Cora Bellinger, Wooster is further flummoxed by Bobbie, who appropriates his vacationing Aunt Agatha's prized pooch Macintosh in order to impress the young son of a Broadway bigwig, who may produce her mother's new play. While Wooster executes Jeeves's plan to regain the shanghaied canine, Tuppy prepares to sing "Sonny Boy" at a roughouse East End charity event to impress the civic-minded Cora. Jeeves, however, at the behest of Glossop's former girlfriend's relations, sabotages Tuppy's dalliance with Cora at the East End variety show. Continues with T:29998.
