
KNOTS LANDING: JUST LIKE OLD TIMES {SERIES FINALE} (TV)
Summary
The series finale of this night-time drama serial, spun off from the series "Dallas," about the residents of the small southern California community of Knots Landing.Highlights of this episode include the following: Paige Matheson finds a bomb aboard the private jet she and Greg Sumner are flying; Detective Tom Ryan calls the plane from the police station and guides Greg through the nerve-racking diffusion process; Valene Ewing, thought to be dead, gets off a bus from Florida disguised in men's clothing; Paige and Greg meet with Tom, agree that international Mafia boss Nigel Treadwell is behind the bomb planting -- as well as Greg's recent shooting -- and conclude that missing gigolo/scam-artist Nick Schillace may be the only person who knows where the evil Treadwell is; Treadwell, who is keeping a battered Vanessa Hunt captive in his hotel suite, blames her for the failure of the plane-bombing and accuses her of informing Tom Ryan about it; Karen and Mack walk on eggshells around each other and talk uneasily about getting back to normal for the sake of their adopted child Meg; Sumner turns his house into a computer command center employing an army of experts to find Treadwell; Nick -- who has broken into Greg's sister Claudia's house -- surprises her by popping out of her bedroom closet and tells her Treadwell's thugs are out to kill him because he would not follow orders and kill her and Paige; he also says he loves her and needs money and a passport; Tom asks Paige to marry him; Greg tells his wife Anne that he does not love her and she suggests he marry her daughter Paige because they do love each other; not one to miss an opportunity, Claudia keeps Nick at her house and then goes to Greg and requests money for her daughter Katie, and five million dollars and a museum job in Monaco for herself in return for Nick; Gary Ewing is shocked when he gets a message from Val asking him to meet her at a diner; Val, who has dyed her hair brown and donned glasses, later meets Gary at a motel and tells him she was kidnapped and held captive by Treadwell's people because she learned too much about his plan to take over Greg's corporation; a terrified Val goes on to say that Treadwell's people are still after her; Claudia brings Greg to her house and a deflated Nick tells Greg he was hired to observe Claudia but fell in love with her; Gary brings Val to the MacKenzies' house where Val and Karen have an emotional reunion; Tom interrogates Nick who claims he knows one person who can lead them to Treadwell; Karen insists that Val stay with them for her own safety; Nick is allowed to meet with the mysterious contact for whom he has been working and it turns out to be none other than Abby Fairgate Cunningham Ewing Sumner, who is in partnership with Treadwell; when Nick desperately describes his plight, a bemused Abby says she will take care of Treadwell.
Abby Fairgate tells Nick Schillace he hasn't been doing his job and that she arrived in Los Angeles expecting everything to be in order for the takeover; when Nick begs Abby for money, she tells him to get lost; Nick is kidnapped by Treadwell's thugs outside of Abby's hotel; Greg Sumner tells Paige Matheson that her mother Anne has left him; Abby meets with her partner, syndicate boss Nigel Treadwell, and tells him he botched the takeover and that rather than returning to Japan, she will remain here and take charge; Nick is brought to Treadwell's hotel suite and claiming he was robbed by Nick, Treadwell is just about to shoot Nick when Vanessa Hunt shoots Treadwell in the back; when Tom Ryan and other police officers arrive on the scene, Nick has fled and Vanessa confesses to the murder -- not letting on that Nick was there; Gary tells a devastated Kate Whittaker that Valene is alive and back in Knots Landing; Paige informs Greg that Tom asked her to marry him; Valene is elated when she learns from Karen and Mack that Treadwell is dead, as she can now have her life back; Valene is reunited with her children; Nick confesses to Anne that he feels bad about skipping out on Vanessa and lets it slip that he was working for Abby; Abby visits ex-husband Greg Sumner and tells him she has dirt on him that she will take to the justice department unless he lets her take over the Sumner Group; Tom tells a relieved Vanessa that the D.A. will not be pressing charges against her and that she is free to go; Anne goes to see Greg and tells him she has dirt on Abby she wishes to sell him; Nick goes to see Abby and tells her he has dirt on her that he will expose unless she gives him "lots and lots of money"; Gary tells Val that he tried to fall in love with Kate, but that Val is his only true love; Mack and Karen finally have it out about their recent marital tensions and make up; Paige tells Anne she is going to marry Tom, but Anne tells her it would be a terrible mistake and that she should marry Greg; at the airport, scam-artists Nick and Anne arrive with their pockets brimming and prepare to board a flight for Paris, then Claudia arrives and informs them she is on the same flight -- all three are moving to Monaco; Sumner tells Abby the deal is off because of the information he now has on her; Paige, who has decided not to marry Tom, remains with Greg at the Sumner Group; and as Mack, Karen, Gary, and Valene prepare for an outdoor barbecue, they are shocked to see Abby Fairgate drive into the cul-de-sac; Abby tells the foursome that she will be moving back to Knots Landing and is considering buying Claudia's now-vacant house. Commercials deleted.
