YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES, THE: YOUNG INDIANA JONES AND THE MYSTERY OF THE BLUES (TV)

Summary

One in this series about a young American who travels the world and becomes involved with the historical figures and events of his time.

In this episode, Indiana is working his way through college in Chicago during Prohibition as a waiter in an Italian restaurant named Colisimo's. Jazz great Sidney Bechet and his band perform at the restaurant. Indiana is intrigued by the syncopated music and spends a lot of his time in speakeasies. He eventually becomes friends with Bechet, who gives him a soprano saxophone and teaches him the basics of playing jazz. When the owner of Colisimo's is murdered while waiting for an illegal shipment of alcohol, Indiana runs into his reporter friend Ernie Hemingway at the crime scene. The two young blades, together with Indiana's by-the-book roommate Eliot Ness, team up to solve the case. The three sleuths decide to visit the warehouse of the company that supplies Colisimo's with alcohol, hoping to find the killers. They succeed in their mission, but at the cost of getting caught by the bootleggers after a grand shoot-out and car chase. In the end, Indiana and his friends discover the identities of those involved in the murder, but do not have enough evidence to prove their case. Also, the older Indiana Jones -- special guest star Harrison Ford -- who is recalling his adventures in Chicago, encounters problems of his own while attempting to keep a valuable relic out of the hands of some evil men. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements. This program is closed-captioned.
