MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD: MISTER ROGERS TALKS ABOUT MAKING MISTAKES {CHUCK ABER FILLS IN, SIGN LANGUAGE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of programs for young children, hosted by Fred Rogers, which uses puppets and music to teach patience and cooperation, while providing guidance to help children cope with feelings and frustrations. This episode is part of a week-long series about making mistakes. When Mister Rogers is suddenly called off to a meeting, Chuck Aber agrees to stay at Rogers' house and entertain the audience until he returns. Aber shows the skunk puppet that he has brought, demonstrates how to communicate in sign language, and sings "There Are Many Ways." Then Mister Rogers returns and imagines the latest developments in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, where hand-puppet characters interact with humans in the mythical kingdom of King Friday XIII. Mr. Skunk arrives and throws the kingdom into turmoil when he accidentally sprays Handyman Negri and Audrey Duck with his rancid, pungent odor. Lady Aberlin reassures the disconsolate Mr. Skunk, explaining that everybody makes mistakes. Daniel Striped Tiger and Lady Aberlin share a tender moment and sing "Sometimes I Wonder If I'm a Mistake" and "I Think You Are Just Fine." Additionally, Rogers introduces a segment that demonstrates the way that erasers are made in a factory. This program is closed-captioned.
