M*A*S*H {MASH}: BLOOD AND GUTS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of comedy programs about the men and women of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M*A*S*H), stationed behind the lines during the Korean War. In this episode, the 4077th is abuzz with excitement over the visit of famed wartime journalist Clayton Kibbee. Known for his romantic stories of wartime adventure, Kibbee plans to write an article about the wounded soldiers treated by the medical unit. Disappointed with the soldiers' mundane stories of how they became casualties, Kibbee freely embellishes their accounts. Realizing that Kibbee's stories are hyperbolic mistruths that glamorize war to young men at home, Hawkeye attempts to convince the scribe that he should concentrate on accurately depicting the atrocities of war rather than manufacturing a false sense of combat glory.
