M*A*S*H {MASH}: GEORGE (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedy programs about the men and women of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M*A*S*H) stationed behind the lines during the Korean War. In this episode, Hawkeye and Trapper become concerned when the battered condition of a heroic wounded soldier named George proves to be partially the result of a beating administered by members of his own unit. George explains that he was beaten for being a homosexual and pleads with the doctors to send him back to the front as quickly as possible, believing acts of military daring will confirm his worth in his comrades' eyes. Major Frank Burns is initially impressed by George's valor, but when he learns the young soldier is one of "those," the churlish officer indignantly lobbies for George's dishonorable discharge from the army. It is up to Hawkeye and Trapper to "convince" Burns to drop his campaign, which they do by exploiting the Major's always dependable store of hypocrisy. Commercials deleted.
