STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION: RASCALS (TV)
Summary
One in this series of science fiction programs about the voyages of the U.S.S. Enterprise in the 24th century. This sequel to the original "Star Trek" series is set approximately 85 years after the journeys of the first Enterprise crew. In this episode, Capt. Picard, Guinan, Ensign Ro, and Keiko are transformed into children after their shuttlecraft is seized by a strange energy field. Despite the fact that they have the bodies of pre-adolescent children, the four crew members retain their adult minds and they struggle for a semblance of normalcy while Dr. Crusher searches for a cure. Picard tries to maintain command of the ship, Keiko attempts to continue in her role as wife and mother, and Guinan alone seems to enjoy her "second childhood," despite the constant complaints of Ro, who remembers her childhood with bitterness. Unsure of whether the situation can be changed or whether the age-reversal process will eventually affect their minds, the captain reluctantly hands his command over to Cmdr. Riker until a cure can be found. However, while Crusher works on a solution to the mysterious transformation, the Enterprise is seized by a band of renegade Ferengi scavengers, who beam all the adults off the ship. Only the children left on board have any hope of saving the Enterprise. Commercials deleted. (This program is closed-captioned.)
