PICKET FENCES: HIGH TIDINGS (TV)

Summary

One in this series of off-beat dramas that often focuses on social issues as it chronicles the lives of Rome, Wisconsin, residents, including town Sheriff Jimmy Brock; his wife Dr. Jill Brock; their three children, Kimberly, Matthew, and Zachary; and his two deputies, Kenny Lacos and Maxine Stewart. In this episode, Kimberly is discovered in bed with her boyfriend, Billy, on Christmas Eve, so Jimmy calls off Christmas and arrests Billy for statutory rape; consequently, Kimberly threatens to go live with her biological mother, Lydia, in Chicago. When Lydia arrives to take Kimberly away, Jill feels threatened by their relationship and Jimmy fears that he is losing his daughter. Meanwhile, a man who insists he is Kris Kringle is picked up for handing out stolen merchandise and, when he is confronted with his true identity, he holds Maxine and Ginny hostage in the sheriff's office.
