MYSTERY!: DALGLIESH: DEATH OF AN EXPERT WITNESS {PART 1 OF 6} (TV)
Summary
One in this mystery anthology series. Host Vincent Price introduces part one of director Herbert Wise's six-part television adaptation of P.D. James' complex, cunning mystery novel. The program focuses on Chief Inspector Dalgliesh's murder investigation, conducted in the shadows of Hoggatt's Forensic Science Laboratory. When additional murders occur, Dalgliesh begins to investigate people associated with the lab, some of whom may be linked to the grisly crimes. In part one, the laboratory is the site of intrigue after a young woman named Linda -- the victim of strangulation -- is discovered nearby. Inspector Doyle attempts to pin the murder on a friend of the girl's in order to end speculations about a possible serial murderer. Dalgliesh, however, believes the murderer has yet to be apprehended. At the same time, controversy emerges: Dr. Howarth has been named the new director of the forensic science laboratory, much to the chagrin of the unpopular chief biologist, Dr. Edwin Lorrimer, who had openly coveted the position. Dr. Lorrimer vents his frustration at Dr. Clifford Bradley, who considers resigning from the lab due to the consistent abuse. Meanwhile, neglected wife Anne Kerrison announces at a dinner party that she is having an adulterous affair, much to the surprise of her husband, Chief Medical Examiner Henry Kerrison. Dr. Lorrimer's cousin, Angela Foley, and her lover, novelist Stella Mawson, are about to be evicted from a cottage they share unless they can raise the cash to buy the home. Dr. Lorrimer, menwhile, begins having an affair with Dr. Howarth's half-sister, Domenica. Continues with T:26149.
