COLUMBO: ÉTUDE IN BLACK {SECOND SEASON PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series of police dramas in which Los Angeles homicide detective Lt. Columbo's unassuming manner masks his keen intelligence and sharp investigative abilities. In this episode, John Cassavetes plays Alex Benedict, a famous conductor who murders his mistress because he fears that she will go public with their affair. Charismatic and conceited, Benedict simply won't risk losing all the benefits of a very wealthy wife whose mother happens to be chairman of the symphony board. He murders his lover, a promising pianist in the symphony, and goes to great lengths to make it look like a suicide. All seems to go as planned until the maestro meets his match in the person of Lt. Columbo. Commercials deleted.
