Summary
One in this series of dramas intended for young audiences. "Summer Stories: The Mall" is a three-part subseries that highlights the stories of Marla, Spinner, and Sarah, high-school friends who are working at the mall over the summer after graduation. In this episode, Sarah is shocked to receive a delivery of flowers from her birth mother, Roxanne. Sarah knows that she was adopted, but she never expected to hear from the woman who gave birth to her. The flowers include a card with a phone number; Sarah is invited to call if she wants to meet. Sarah has no idea what to do. Meanwhile, Spinner falls for a girl he sees outside the mall -- but he doesn't know her name or how to find her again. Marla, who works at a restaurant in the mall, is training a new girl named Diane when she discovers that Drew has been given the assistant-manager position. Angry and hurt that she wasn't chosen, Marla confronts her boss. After much thought and contemplation, Sarah decides to call her birth mother, Roxanne. Their meeting prompts Sarah and her adoptive parents to talk about their family and their feelings. Includes commercials, promos, and a public service announcement.
