Summary

One in this series of movies presented by ABC. In this docudrama, a young woman, Alison Gertz, tells her story of living with AIDS to high school students. In a flashback Alison recalls the following events: the development of her illness and the barrage of medical tests she suffered through until her doctor discovered that she had pneumocystic pneumonia and AIDS; her hospitalization after having a severe reaction to the preventative medication she was given; her parents' support throughout her illness; the caring people she encountered in the AIDS unit; the loss of her friends and boyfriend because of their fears about AIDS; the news that another AIDS patient and friend had died; her realization that she would never again have a sexual relationship; her thoughts about killing herself; and the importance of telling her story. At the end of the program, actress Molly Ringwald gives the telephone number for the AIDS hotline. Includes commercials, promos, public service announcements, and an ABC News Brief. This program is closed-captioned.
