AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE: SIGNS OF LIFE (TV)
Summary
One in this series of dramas. This "American Playhouse" presentation is introduced by actor Christopher Plummer. Set in a small fishing village in Maine, this film is a sensitive portrait of a group of boat builders who must move on after the business that has employed them shuts down. Aging Owen Coughlin (Kennedy) -- a third generation boat builder -- is forced to close the family business, leaving him and his loyal staff to come to terms with the past and forge new beginnings. Among those affected by the change are the financially strapped John (Bridges), who struggles to support his large family; Daryl (D'Onofrio), who is burdened with the responsibility of a mentally impaired brother (Lewis); and Eddie (O'Connor), who is torn between starting a new life in Florida or settling down in Maine with his girlfriend (Parker).
