MUPPET SHOW, THE {LINDA RONSTADT} (TV)

Summary

One in this series of comedy/variety programs featuring Jim Henson's Muppets, and hosted by the group's genial emerald ringleader, Kermit the Frog. This program gets off to a bumpy start when Miss Piggy, motivated by jealousy, locks Kermit in a trunk to prevent him from meeting guest Linda Ronstadt, who later frees Kermit and serenades him with "I've Got a Crush on You." Other highlights include the following: Ronstadt sings "Blue Bayou" on a marshy plain, with softly croaking frogs and members of the Muppet band providing a mellow backup; Rowlf and a canine ensemble perform the song "The Cat Came Back"; and band member Janice and two other Muppets join Ronstadt for the girl-group song "It's in His Kiss." In the closing number, Rowlf provides piano accompaniment for Kermit and Ronstadt, who sing "When I Grow Too Old To Dream." Commercials deleted.
