CIVIL WARS: PILOT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)

Summary

The premiere in this series of legal dramas about a group of Manhattan divorce attorneys. In this episode, attorney Eli Levinson suffers a nervous breakdown, leaving his partner Sydney Guilford struggling with a double workload. In Sydney's major case, her client, Susan, is seeking equitable distribution in her divorce from her husband, who appears to have extensive hidden assets which he refuses to declare. The other attorney on this case is Charlie Howell, who is at the same time helping a woman sue her husband for divorce because he has delusions that the spirit of Elvis Presley lives in him. But Sydney has the inside scoop to turn the case to her favor, because of some help from her private investigator friend. Sydney is also familiar with divorce from a personal angle, and she continues to have issues with her ex-husband that leave her feeling cynical about the institution of marriage. So when Charlie Howell takes their relationship onto a more personal level, Sydney fights her attraction to Howell. However, she is not so quick to refuse when he makes her a business proposition. Includes commercials, promos, and public service announcements. Includes a public service announcement with Jamie Lee Curtis for Project Literacy U.S. and a commercial with Candice Bergen for Sprint. This program is closed-captioned.

Cataloging of this program was made possible by the Bell Atlantic Foundation.
