TWENTY-ONE JUMP STREET {21 JUMP STREET}: COME FROM THE SHADOWS (TV)

Summary

One in this series of police dramas about the youthful-looking officers of a special unit of the Los Angeles Police Department, who go undercover in local high schools to fight crime. In this episode, the unit suspects that a priest, Jim Kelly, may be involved in an operation that sells El Salvadoran babies to American families. Through a covert network of church groups, Kelly helps Salvadoran refugees escape from their country, which is plagued by death squads and random killings. When Doug falls in love with a refugee named Marta, Harry grows concerned that he is allowing his personal feelings to get in the way of the investigation. Meanwhile, Judy poses as a volunteer for a refugee support organization and snoops around for information. Members of the unit end up arresting Kelly and Marta, but then realize they may have made a mistake. While Doug laments his betrayal of Marta and his mistake concerning the arrest, Judy is able to determine the identity of the culprit who is selling babies. Doug asks Marta to forgive him and marry him because he loves her and wants to provide a legal refuge from her war-torn homeland. The soundtrack features the songs "Fragile" and "They Dance Alone," performed by Sting. Includes a public service announcement. This program is closed-captioned.
