DIARY OF A PERFECT MURDER {"MATLOCK" PILOT} (TV)
Summary
A made-for-television movie which served as the pilot episode for this legal drama about Ben Matlock, an expert yet unconventional lawyer and his experiences both in and out of the courtroom. In the pilot, an investigative reporter from New York City named Steve Emerson is accused of murdering his ex-wife, Linda, an Atlanta news reporter. In actuality, Emerson was meeting with a confidential news source in an empty train car when Linda was murdered. Since Emerson does not wish to reveal his source, Matlock, whom Emerson hired as his defense attorney, must figure out who really murdered Linda in order to clear his client of all charges. Meanwhile, Matlock agrees to allow his eager daughter, Charlene, who is also an attorney, to assist on the case. Things become complicated when Emerson's source is murdered, Matlock is kidnapped by members of the mob, and Tyler learns that Linda was not only romantically involved with her fiancŽe, but also had affairs with her co-anchor and her boss. Commercials deleted.
