AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE: WINGS (TV)
Summary
One in this dramatic anthology series. This program presents an adaptation of Arthur Kopit's 1978 Broadway production about an elderly woman, a former aviatrix, who is gradually recovering from a stroke. Experimental editing techniques and unconventional narrative strategies are used to express the experiences of a woman who cannot communicate with the outside world. Constance Cummings received a Tony Award for her role from the original play. Following the program is a short film, "Spokesong," about the journey of a cyclist who pedals his way through the American landscape, culminating with his arrival at the ocean.
