ROBERT MONTGOMERY PRESENTS: HARVEST (TV)
Summary
One in this live dramatic anthology series produced and hosted by Robert Montgomery. In this special Thanksgiving presentation, just as a farm family are getting ready to harvest their wheat, a hail storm destroys their entire crop, ruining vacation plans for Carl and Ellen Zelenka. Conflict ensues when the couple's youngest son, Paul (James Dean), expresses his desire to leave the farm and join his two brothers and his girlfriend Arlene in the city. Carl and Ellen worry that they will have no one to whom they can pass on the farm, while Arlene's parents fear that their daughter will marry the brooding Paul. As Paul becomes ever more dissatisfied with farm life, he goes to visit Arlene, only to find that she's going out with another man. Out of desperation, he joins the navy. When the elderly Gramp dies, the family reluctantly draw closer as all return home for Thanksgiving. When Paul's brother Chuck reveals that he intends to move back to the farm, it seems there's some hope left for the family after all. Includes commercials.
