Summary

One in this anthology series about the dreams and schemes of those in and on the fringes of the film industry. In this program, an aging Hollywood studio chief, A.D. Nathan, holds a small dinner party at his favorite restaurant, Ciro's. The people who surround him dream that this event will create career opportunities for them in Hollywood: The switchboard operator at Ciro's hopes she will be discovered, the maitre d' plans to have Nathan read his screenplay, Nathan's wife's lover intends to advance his acting career, an old alcoholic friend and colleague of Nathan's wants a second chance in the industry, and a young starlet thinks that her evening out with Nathan will be the start of a great acting career. Unbeknownst to all of them, however, Nathan's own hopes rest on a wing and a prayer as he waits for a mysterious phone call from New York.
