BLIND JUSTICE: CRIME & PUNISHMENT {SERIES PREMIERE} (TV)
Summary
One in this series about Katherine Hughes, a self-reliant left-wing barrister who has little faith in the justice system. In this episode, Katherine defends Cora, a desperate woman who smuggled heroin into England in order to get money for her daughter and four grandchildren. Cora, who hopes that her daughter will still get the money from the people who hired her, pleads guilty and refuses to say who hired her. As Katherine is going over the case, she learns that Cora was found with half a kilo of heroin. In actuality, Cora had three kilos in her possession. Cora explains that she was strip-searched twice; once by the men who arrested her and once by two women at the police station. Katherine immediately realizes that the officers must have stolen the drugs and wonders how they knew Cora was carrying them in the first place. Meanwhile, Frank Cartwright, a barrister and friend of Katherine's, finds himself helping a young man, Henry, who holds the key to Katherine's mystery.
