ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW, THE: BARNEY'S FIRST CAR (TV)
Summary
One in this series about Sheriff Andy Taylor, his family, and the residents of Mayberry, North Carolina. In this episode, Barney decides to buy a car. He withdraws all the money from his bank account and finds an appealing used car advertisement in the classified ads. The moment the seller, an aged widow named Mrs. Lesch, shows up with the car, Barney falls in love with it. He refuses Andy's suggestion that he test drive the car and take it to a mechanic, and he pays Mrs. Lesch's top price. When Barney takes his friends out for a drive in his shiny new machine, however, it breaks down. Gomer examines the car and discovers a long list of problems. Barney and Andy intend to bring the car back to Mrs. Lesch, but on the way the car breaks down again. They call Gomer to tow them home, fall asleep while waiting for him, and wake up as the car is getting towed away -- but not by Gomer. Instead, they are transported to the home base of Mrs. Lesch and her group of hustlers, who think the car was abandoned and plan to resell it. Barney arrests them, but not before Mrs. Lesch offers him a nice new car. Commercials deleted.
