CHARLES & DIANA: A ROYAL LOVE STORY (TV)
Summary
This docudrama about the courtship of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer is based on historical events. The program depicts the pressure that Prince Charles received from his family and the press about being a bachelor at the age of thirty. His uncle, Lord Mountbatten, who later dies when a bomb explodes on his boat, suggests that Charles should find a fiancee, while the press harasses any woman who spends time with the Prince of Wales. Meanwhile, Lady Diana, who is in love with Prince Charles, decides to move into a flat in London with a few friends and begins working at the Young England Kindergarten. She also spends time in the company of the Royal Family, since she is close friends with Prince Andrew. Eventually, Prince Charles takes notice of her and the two begin spending time together. Unfortunately, the press follows them, but unlike Charles's friends, Diana does not take the press seriously. The courtship progresses and Charles proposes marriage. Although Prince Charles warns Lady Diana that her life will drastically change if she marries him, she accepts his proposal. The program concludes with a re-enactment of the Royal Wedding. Commercials deleted.
